White Whale / staff / Jason Pontius

Jason calls the shots. (“8-ball, corner pocket.”)

Jason is the president and founder of White Whale, which means something different every day.  He serves in a creative director role, creating homepage designs and collaborating with Janie on design work in general; he also oversees the care and feeding of LiveWhale, our CMS.  A pathological multitasker, Jason is typically involved in every aspect of the Web site development process.

He serves as the primary point of contact for most of White Whale's clients.  One of his favorite parts of the job, strange as it might sound, is helping our clients navigate the opinions, personalities and internal politics that a Web redesign always brings to light.

Jason has been designing and building Web sites since 1997, when he began exploring the field of interactive design as a complement to his graduate study in linguistics at the University of Chicago (where he holds a master’s degree). He lives in the Glenview/Dimond neighborhood of Oakland with his wife and daughter.

  • I think the @chronicle Drake/D+ post (www.bit.ly/90Gj9u) is uninformed and foolish. Unfortunately, submitting a comment returns a 404 error.

  • @harmancipants That was a great book to read when drunk and hungover. For some reason. However, "Leaving Las Vegas" (the movie) is NOT.

  • Fun fact via @write_girl: There are six Tim Hortons on Waterloo's campus. Are they color-coordinated to the faculties? #uwredesign
