White Whale / staff / David McKelvey

David is White Whale’s newest hire. As Director of Product Development for the LiveWhale CMS, he is charged with guiding the future course of our software; setting development and resource priorities; and interacting with LiveWhale's developer community. He also serves as a backup to our support staff, working directly on code development and technical support when needed.

David comes to White Whale with almost a decade in building and managing educational websites. David worked as Director of New Media at Willamette University and Lewis & Clark, and has been a friend of our company ever since he hired White Whale to redesign the L&C site in 2007.

Lewis & Clark was an early beta user of the LiveWhale CMS. During his time there, David created many independent custom projects within the CMS, and has been known for years as LiveWhale's most enthusiastic tinkerer. Much of the work he's created is open source, including projects for Instagram as well as LiveWhale.

David has a degree in mathematics and economics from Claremont McKenna. He now lives in Portland, Oregon with his wife Camelia and four (yes, four) cats. When not coding, you might find him cooking, drinking coffee or mixed drinks, or dancing the Argentine tango.
