Hi, I wrote my bio in the first person, OK? As the creative director for White Whale, I'm responsible for many tasks: I visit new clients (and new prospective clients), I lead the design process, interview students and faculty, take photos, and write a lot.
I received my MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and my BA from Trinity University. In college I made documentary films and played NCAA golf - yes, I will play nine holes with your school's comptroller at any time.
My coworkers constantly overwhelm me with their skill and humor: Naomi makes buildouts that somehow look exactly like my PSDs, it's almost creepy. Tonya and Jason give me guidance and feedback and turn a loving blind-eye to my terrible travel diet. Alex, Laura, and Isaac are incredibly patient with my teensy but annoying LiveWhale requests. Gary always uses the coolest stamps on my paychecks: the likes of Harvey Milk, Richard Allen, and the Girl Scouts.
I've been a Whale since 2009 - before that, I worked at LipmanHearne: a much larger firm in downtown Chicago that also focuses on educational institutions and nonprofits.
I sought out this type of work after spending too much time in the for-profit agency world, where I was once assigned the task of writing a press release for the auction of a giant sneaker, autographed by Neil Patrick Harris, on behalf of Dow Chemical. All of that is true.
Very best things:
Always on my desk:
